such a lovely day

today was the perfect day to take mckinley on a mommy/daddy date.
{we dropped jonah and jett off at zoo camp first thing this morning and jake austin was left home with ganny and poppy}

mckinley was a little bummed she didn’t get to stay at the zoo and see the animals so we took her inside for a little bit.


there’s a new butterfly hollow that we hadn’t ever been to before.

it’s basically a great big net with lots of butterflies inside.

they were each so different and beautiful in their own way.
just like us!






i especially loved the fairy door on the tree.
mckinley will have a fairy door in her bedroom.
every little girl should.


we saw all sorts of creatures!
jett would’ve loved to chase this lizard.


mckinley is not very into smiling for the camera these days.
irritating.




one thing mckinley is interested in is being miss bossy pants.
you can almost hear her telling her daddy to take her to the gift shop in this picture, can’t you?!




this squirrel was super friendly.
unfortunately, he wouldn’t sit still very long.
he was busy searching for dropped cheerios and animal crackers.










one of my favorite animals at the zoo is definitely the giraffe!!!

after the zoo we took mckinley out to lunch and then to visit our old neighborhood and neighbors.

hubs and i agreed we need to have more dates with our kiddos one on one.
