Election 2008

Today I feel like I can blog about what is on my heart....yesterday was NOT a good day for me to talk about it...

I sat down yesterday and tried to write what I was feeling. But then I just had to call someone and vent. I tried again after church last night but again became discouraged and went to find something else to do. Today I go to Cathy's blog and I find just the words I've been trying to say. Here's what she had to say and what I've been longing to blog for more than 24 hours!

Praying for OUR country.....

Isn't that what we should do on the day after?

As fear wants to consume my heart at the thought of what could happen I will not let it. I will try to take those times of fear and pray. Sometimes that is much harder to do than just saying it.

I am fearful of what will happen to our nations healthcare system. I can not imagine being directed WHO I can CHOOSE for my medical care.

I am fearful for all those that work in the medical industry, what will happen to those jobs as the government takes over the industry.

I am fearful that we have a leader that does not believe an unborn child has rights or has a life. Oh GOD how can we trust someone who is clearly against the very truths you speak.

I am fearful for all those small business who make up the majority of the jobs in the US. They will struggle or fail if the things he states he puts into practice.

I am most fearful that we have the same party controlling the government. Won't this make it easy to allow those liberal views to be put into place.

Oh GOD how can these children of Yours not do Your Will and claim to be of You.

I will put these fears to rest and pray, pray harder and more for our nation than I ever have. For times like these we may not ever want to see but GOD works miracles and we can pray for one.

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
(NKJV)

So, there you go. He is NOT the man I voted for. But, he is now the future leader of our country. I probably will not agree with him often, if at all. But, I know that God has a plan...a perfect plan...and this is going to be ok. We, as a nation, need to pray for President Elect Obama. We need to pray that he makes good choices and leads our country in a way that is fitting to our Savior!

Oh, and, here's a little funny I read a few days ago.
"I'll keep MY freedom, MY guns and MY money, You can keep 'The Change'"
I love it!!! Although...it no longer applies....

I was also disappointed. But I really am hopeful that this can be a good thing. I hope that it can bring a feeling of unity back to our country, instead of division.

And I hope that he will be the man of God he claims to be and make the right choices, lead our country in the right direction.
