Oh How He Loves Us

This morning {if I can get this published before midnight} our worship leader played this short video before we began our Sunday morning worship. This is a song that gets me every.single.time. Now that I have seen the video on how and why the song was written, I know why it gets me. Because it speaks directly to my brokenness.

I'm a sinner. I'm broken. I daily seek forgiveness. I'm nowhere near perfect. I make many mistakes. I constantly let others down. I don't deserve His grace and mercy.

Watch this. It's a short 10 minutes out of your day...you'll spend more time aimlessly scrolling through Facebook. Chances are you'll feel blessed at the end of the 10 minutes. Or, you'll be a hot mess from all of the tears. Either way, watch this.

This morning at church, as I song this song, I was overtaken with emotion more than once. I had to take a deep breath before continuing to sing. It's unfathomable, this side of Heaven, just how He can love a sinner like me, a girl so broken. But, when I listen to this song, I'm reminded that Jesus loves me, even when I sin. He loves me in my brokenness. He is an all-forgiving God. Only He is perfect, yet He loves me still. He loves me enough to let me learn from my mistakes. Even though I let Him down, He still loves me. I DON'T, we DON'T, deserve His grace and mercy, let He loves us enough to consistently give it to us.

Goodness, I haven't spoke out about Jesus on this space in quite some time. Yet, today I was moved to share Him with you. I pray you know Him. I pray, if you don't know Him, that you'll seek Him out. Want to know more, but have no one to ask? Ask me. If I don't know the answer, I'll ask.

How was your Sunday? I'd love to hear how you spent your day. Tell me in the comments!

Resurrection Buns {a kids craft and recipe}

this is a repost from a few years ago when i made resurrection buns with my boys.
what a fun {and yummy} way to teach littles about the death, burial and resurrection of our savior.

enjoy!

So, the night before Easter the big boys and I made these very neat Resurrection Buns. I can't take credit for the recipe or the directions and my mind that left long ago can't remember even where I found the recipe....but, I digress. Here's what we did.

First, grab your ingredients.

1 can of Grands biscuits
Cinnamon and Sugar
Marshmallows
melted Butter

Flatten each biscuit to about 5 inches round, then "paint" it with butter

Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. (you can tell the kiddos that this represents the spices that were used to anoint Jesus' body) Place a big marshmallow in the middle and pull all of the sides up to make a ball. (the white marshmallow respresents Jesus being pure and sinless) Place the ball on your cookie sheet seams down...so it doesn't open while baking.

Please excuse him....he gives me a different face for every picture...but, rarely a smile.

Again, "paint" your bun and then sprinkle more cinnamon and sugar.

Just out of the oven...YUMMMMMM!

The bun is empty...where did that pure and sinless Jesus go???? He is risen!!

handmade4haiti

my heart hurts so badly tonight.
it hurts for the people in Haiti.

i don't watch the news so all the info i get comes from The Hunky Hubs, who does, and the internet sites i frequent.
i'm a twitterer. (is that a word)
there's a lot of talk on twitter about Haiti.
someone posted a link to CNN's website full of photos.
i didn't want to look.
but, i did.
tears filled my eyes as i thought of all of those men, women and children lying in the streets...
did they have someone who loved them?
is someone looking for them?
did they know Jesus?
and if they did, did they really KNOW Him?
are they with Him?

today i looked around at all that i have and realized that i have a lot.
a computer, that is my daily *adult, no toddler talk, conversation*,
a starbucks gift card to be used whenever i want to warm my chilly bod,
a husband who loves me **SWOON!**,
a roof over my head,
a full dishwasher, which means we ate well...
the Lord has blessed me with SO much.
He has also blessed me with a talent that i can use to help Haiti.

in my etsy shop you will find a pink zebra cross hand towel that will be made especially for Haiti Disaster Relief.
if it's sold out when you get there, please check my shop to see if i've relisted it.
i will relist them as they sell out.
for every towel sold i will donate $5.00 to Compassion International.
Compassion International, the world's largest Christian child development program, serves 64,000 sponsored children in Haiti, most near the earthquake zone.

so, it's a win/win.
you get a cute handmade towel.
Haiti gets a bit of relief.

will you help me help them?
thank you.

Happy Sunday!

I wanted to be the first to tell you Happy Sunday!

Have you read the nativity story yet? Oh, you must.
I challenge you to read it and share it.
It's a goal of mine this year too.

You know, until this year we have never sat down with the kids and read the story of Jesus' birth on Christmas.
Before we let the kiddos open their gifts this year we'll read it!
Of course, presents will be on their minds, and not listening to us.
But, we plan to make it a tradition.
It's so very important for them to hear.
It's important for us to be reminded of.

Merry Christmas, you!
Know that Jesus loves you more than words can say.
And I think you're pretty special too!

Grandpa is with Jesus...

this is the last time i saw Grandpa.
doing just what he'd always do as we pulled out of the driveway.
he'd stand on the front porch and wave good-bye.
he used to do that with Grandma.

now they are together.
