I am beyond excited to share with youthe first glimpse of Golden Globe® winner Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins in MARY POPPINS RETURNS, the all new sequel to Disney’s 1964 film MARY POPPINS.
This is a sequel, friends, NOT a remake of the film we grew up watching. Keep reading.
Directed and produced by Rob Marshall, MARY POPPINS RETURNS also stars Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer and Julie Walters with Colin Firth and Meryl Streep.
The film, which introduces three new Banks children, played by Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh and newcomer Joel Dawson, also features Dick Van Dyke and Angela Lansbury. The film is set in 1930s depression-era London (the time period of the original novels) and is drawn from the wealth of material in PL Travers’ additional seven books. In the story, Michael (Whishaw) and Jane (Mortimer) are now grown up, with Michael, his three children and their housekeeper, Ellen (Walters), living on Cherry Tree Lane. After Michael suffers a personal loss, the enigmatic nanny Mary Poppins (Blunt) re-enters the lives of the Banks family, and, along with the optimistic street lamplighter Jack (Miranda), uses her unique magical skills to help the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives. Mary Poppins also introduces the children to a new assortment of colorful and whimsical characters, including her eccentric cousin, Topsy (Streep). The film is produced by Marshall, John DeLuca and Marc Platt. The screenplay is by David Magee based on The Mary Poppins Stories by PL Travers with Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman writing all new songs and Shaiman composing an original score.

The most anticipated film of 2017 is coming soon. March 17. That's only 23 days away, y'all! Who's ready? My kids ask me every day if it's in theaters yet. Mabry, my 3-year-old asked me today, "Peez, can we go to Booty an da Beas? Peez?" She's as excited as the big kids!
The amazing events team at Disney Social Media Moms gave us an eight minute sneak peek of the film. You guys, it's breathtaking! Emma Watson is a perfect Belle. Luke Evans as Gaston is a swoon-worthy match. And, how about Josh Gad as Lefou? I have to admit, when I close my eyes, I see/hear Olaf. But, Josh is a hoot, and he plays this role histarically!

This is exciting, friends. I'm a huge fan of Pixar Shorts. You know, the short, animated films, played at the beginning of new Disney/Pixar movies. The most recent favorite of mine is, Lava. Remember, the lonely, singing volcano, who finds true love when the tides change, I think that's how the girl volcano comes about. Either way, super cute! "I lava you." Remember?
Pixar is at it again. I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Dave Mullins, writer and director of LOU, at the 2017 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. He worked day and night to create ideas that would catch the eye of Pixar. Once the original idea of LOU came to fruition, it was in and out of production. Thanksgiving is a time for family to GATHER. We GATHER in the kitchen to prepare a Thanksgiving feast. We GATHER around the table, to give thanks for the food, that is prepared before us. We GATHER around the living room to allow the tryptophan to kick in. We GATHER back in the kitchen to make leftover turkey sandwiches. We GATHER, amiright?! At the end of a long day of spending time with the friends and family that we love, why not end your day with one final GATHER?
I've gathered a handful of movies [see what I did there?], that are a perfect way to end the day. Whether you have toddlers, tweens, teens, or are a family of all adults, there's a movie listed that you can ALL enjoy. Grab a great big bowl of popcorn, a comfy throw blanket, your loved ones, and settle in for a quiet evening at home.
Miracle on 34th Street - This classic film will get you in the holiday spirit. Since the opening scene is at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, it is a great movie for Thanksgiving!
Planes, Trains and Automobiles - This is a movie, admittedly, I've never seen. But, with Steven Martin and the late John Candy as the two main characters, it must be a good one.
Grumpy Old Men - This movie reminds me of my grandpa; not because he was a grumpy old man, but because he loved this movie. It's important to remember family members that are no longer with us. Bonus: This movie will make you laugh, too.
Curly Sue - There's nothing quite like a movie to pull on your heartstrings during the holidays. I had forgotten about this gem. Curly Sue will have you laughing and crying. It might even inspire you to help a family in need. Maybe. Hopefully.
Know what I'd really love to do this Thanksgiving? I'd love to take my family to see Disney's new MOANA. [I won't go ON Thanksgiving, because I don't think anyone, other than emergency personnel, should be working on a family holiday. But, on Friday...GAME ON. When asked if I'd like to go screen Disney's newest live-action film, The Jungle Book, I jumped at the opportunity. I've loved Disney's The Jungle Book classic [the animated version] for as long as I can remember. There's just something about little Mowgli and his best bear pal, Baloo. The fun loving duo could conquer the jungle...together. With a little wise guidance from Bagheera, that is.
While the 1967, animated film was fun, with all the sing-along music and dancing, the 2016, live-action film is full of ACTION, not a lot of singing. From the moment the movie began, I was on the edge of my seat. Mowgli [played by new actor, Neel Sethi] is a sweet little boy who was, just as the original, raised by a family of wolves. When Shere Kahn visits Peace Rock during the dry season, he tells Akela, the leader wolf and Mowgli's wolf dad, that he wants Mowgli out of the jungle. Akela and Raksha decide now is the time for Mowgli to mosey on down to the man village. And, so begins his journey...
So, you're wondering if you should take your little ones? I took my Jett. He's a brand new 9 year old. There was a little boy behind us that was maybe 4 or 5. I honestly think it depends on your kid. Have you shown him scary-ish movies in the past? Jett LOVES animals and watches animal documentaries that show about the same amount of territorial violence that The Jungle Book shows. Are there a few scenes that have "jump at you" type action? Yes. But, my 9 year old wasn't afraid. And the little boy behind us didn't seem spooked either. I say, use your best judgement on whether or not it's okay to take your young children.
I wouldn't take small children who are easily spooked, or who are afraid of growling animals. There are some pretty intense scenes.
Overall, The Jungle Book is a phenomenally made movie. We loved it!
The brand new teaser trailer for ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY debuted on Good Morning America recently! Lucasfilm’s ROGUE ONE, which takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, tells the story of unlikely heroes who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star.
The cast includes Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, and Forest Whitaker. I have one question for you, are you #TeamCap or #TeamIronMan?? When I saw Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014 and Ant-Man last year, I became an instant Marvel movie fan! Then, I saw Avengers: Age of Ultron and my heart for Marvel grew exponentially. I took my 8 year old, Jett, with me to see a pre-screening, and it was fabulous! The trailer, honestly, didn't have me too excited for this film. But, I'm glad I went against my instincts to go see it.
Zootopia is laugh out loud hilarious. It'll teach you that no matter how small you may be, BIG things can happen when you believe in yourself. Also, when told you can't do something, try harder. Seriously, you guys, so many life lessons rolled into one film. I LOVE IT!
FUN FACT:Artists were inspired by Mufasa from Disney’s classic film “The Lion King”
when creating the look of Mayor Lionheart. I thought he resembled some lion we've seen before. Wanna draw that go-getter little bunny who has hopped her way into everyone's heart? Grab a pencil and some paper, and watch this video. Oooohhh, she's just so cute!
